Matt "Tswv Yeej" Yang
Elder Matt aka Tswv Yeej Yaj was born in Laos. My parents name are Tong Poa Yang and Pai Thao. I have 9 brothers and 6 sister and I am the third to the youngest. I fled the country of Laos in 1983 and arrived in United State in 1984. My brother and I settled in Fillmore, UT for 7 years. I moved to California in 1992. I met my wife Mai Yang Lee in 1993 and we got married. We have 5 children’s, 4 daughters and 1 son.
My family and I converted to Christ in 2003.
The Lord called me to serve Him as an Elder after I completed my MSP course. I am humble to serve my God knowing this is a highly honorable position. My vision is to live my calling by serving the church. For example as an elder I hold the duty of handling new Membership Application and going through a orientation class with those whom had submitted their application. After the orientation class I assigned these new members to a mentor for further follow up. My hope is to someday have many mentors to help out new believers so PHAC can continue to grow quality leaders for the future.
During my spare time I enjoy many outdoor activities. Such as fishing, hunting and site seeing. I enjoy the wilderness very much. I feel close and connect with God when I’m out admiring His creation. I praise God for giving me the opportunity to serve the church and I look forward to continue to do my best for His kingdom.
Toulee "Ntsum Lis" Vang
I was born in Thailand but raised in Portland, OR. I attended Mt. Hood Community College for my Associates degree, then transferred to George Fox University for my Bachelor in Computer Information with a minor in Youth ministry. At the age of 18, I got baptized and gave my life to the Lord. I served many positions at Portland Hmong Alliance Church such as the youth’s ministry to alliance men’s ministry to Couple’s ministry. My wife, Hally, and I have two children Riley and Ely with a third child on the way.
Nancy "N Tsaav Xoos" Hang
My given birth name is Nancy Ntxhis (as in luag ntxhis (smiles)) Yang. I have been married to my husband Sansone (Tsaav Xoos) Hang for most of my life. We praise God for blessing & entrusting us with His 3 children; Kyu, Bryce, and Anaya Paaj Lug Hang. I’ve been a Licensed Practical Nurse for the last 14+ years of my life, by simply being His hands and feet, as I know that though I’m serving others, I am truly serving the Lord. There’s a quote by Billy Graham that says, “The will of God will not take us to where the grace of God cannot sustain us.” Though I have moved all over this country (all of my life), through His guidance and providence, God has brought us here to Portland Hmong Alliance Church from San Diego Hmong Alliance Church, where we completed our training in TEE and held leadership positions that helped us grow in knowing what it means to be a functioning body of Christ.
Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”
I’m grateful & honored that He has given me this opportunity to serve as PHAC’s Secretary and for entrusting me to be a part of the Governing Board. My hope and prayer for this Church is that we may be able to live in obedience to love, encourage, support, and extend extra grace to one another as we further His kingdom here on earth; and that God will be Glorified.
